Types of Makerspaces

​A Makerspace can be created in a variety of ways.  The important thing is that it fits the community of makers who use it and allows them to engage in creative, empowering activities and projects.  Here are some of the many types of spaces that people are Making in:

Space in a school library.  Even the book stacks can be used for a lending library of tools.

Dedicated workshops in a school or community center. Here, the modestly-sized MIT Museum offers a Maker's oasis for all visitors on the 2nd floor.

Portable carts of tools, materials and/or machines that can be brought into a traditional classroom.

Community spaces that are used for various gatherings

Mobile vans than can travel across the district.
