Craft Materials
Students will design and build a storage container for a specified set of items. It is desirable for students to have choice in the selection of the objects, though the teacher can have final approval. The items can be anything from game pieces to jewelry to desk items to musical instrument parts. Possible design parameters can include overall volume, footprint, material usage, etc. The students will measure items to determine design elements, and then use foam board, cardboard, or corrugated plastic to build. They can work individually or in a group to design container, build, and test using chosen item type. Students will present finished models either with items contained, or empty accompanied by items to allow another user to test.
