Festive Flashlights

Students will make an LED flashlight, a reflector, and a symbol out of easy-to-find materials. Your symbol will come to life as the reflected light washes over it.

  • Vinyl/Craft Cutter (Cricut, silhouette, etc.)

  • Craft Knives
  • Cutting Mats

Materials

  • Cardstock
  • Jumbo Popsicle Sticks
  • Copper Tape or Conductive Fabric Tape
  • Coin Cell Batteries (CR2032 works best)
  • LEDs - we like color-changing ones for this project
  • Small or Mini Sized Binder Clips
  • Aluminum Foil
  • Scotch Tape

Project details

In this electronics project, students will make an LED flashlight, featuring a reflector and an expressive symbol out of easy-to-find materials. 

No prior experience with circuits or graphic design is required for this project- just this one-page instruction sheet

Depending on whether students are cutting shapes by hand or using a craft cutter, this build should take approximately 1 hour.
