Black Out Poetry with Lights

Students take a more advanced approach to blackout poetry - a style of poetry in which you piece together different words from a body of text to create a new poem.

Project details

In this project, students illuminate the new poem by using this page as the cover of a light-up box. The box or structure can be made out of any material (wood, cardboard, plastic).

In the box lies a circuit that has LEDs that will light the highlighted words from below. All the LEDs are wired in parallel and powered by a 3V coin cell battery. The circuit conductors are copper tape with conductive adhesive. It uses a toggle switch to turn the lights on and off.
